Megan Floyd

Megan Floyd, environmental science major, shares her experiences at Nazareth College.

Favorite Naz Class

I loved Animal Behavior with Dr. Hallahan. It was so interactive and created a real life application of the information we gained in lecture. Plus we were able to play with rats!

Favorite Naz Hangout

The CAB was a great place to meet up with friends during lunch breaks or late nights studying. It allowed me to get away from the classroom for a while and meet with people from different majors. It is a wonderful common ground with constant access to coffee (the two make a fantastic combination).

Internship or Community Service

I have worked at the Seneca park Zoo as an animal caretaker while at Nazareth, I am also part of the peer mentor group for incoming freshman and transfer students for the biology department. I am also entering into a new community service program at Naz called LifePrep that starts this fall.

Career Goals

Once I graduate, I hope to enter into a PhD program for Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a concentration in Zoology. The professors that I have had here at Nazareth have truly inspired me to follow in their footsteps. I hope to one day be that kind of role model for college students, like they have been for me.

Typical Schedule

Most days I go to class and then study or work in between. I tutor Monday evenings and work for the Admissions Office as a Student Ambassador on scheduled days, but my job in the biology department varies. I generally work for them in between classes and on the weekend. I also like to go to the early morning aerobic classes offered on campus. They are usually at 7 a.m. and range from Pilates and yoga to turbo kick and weight training. I work really hard so that I can play hard. When I have time to spare I like to be outside running, hanging out at the park, or playing in the Rochester snow!
