Nazareth students make a difference. You'll find many ways to serve through classes, student groups, sports teams, residence halls, centers, and campus ministry. The College has been called a role model for other campuses by Campus Cares, an organization that promotes service at colleges, and for three straight years, the Corporation for National and Community Service has honored Nazareth with a place on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service to America's communities.

Ready to volunteer but not sure where to start? The on-campus Center for Service Learning is a resource for students who want to volunteer and faculty who want to incorporate service into the curriculum. Nazareth provides free van service to and from service sites.

Here are a few ways Nazareth people have touched the lives of others:

• Each year incoming students volunteer at more than 20 sites as part of Nazareth's Day of Service. Several sites are based at local Rochester city schools where Nazareth students, along with President Daan Braveman, help teachers prepare classrooms for the start of classes.
• The Nazareth Golden Flyers now play in the Battle of the Beaks for Strong Kids. A recent addition to college traditions, all proceeds from the event go to the Golisano Children’s Hospital. In 2008, the Battle of the Beaks helped the Student-Athlete Advisory Council raise more than $7,000 for the hospital.
• In 1989 a group of Nazareth graduates started a picnic as a charity event. It grew into the Ten Ugly Men Festival, now one of the largest charity events in upstate New York.
