Nazareth College Leads Trip to the Holy Land

In today’s world there are many issues surrounding religion. If you are interested in exploring the literature of the Bible and Qur’an, the current political climate in the Middle East, or looking to discover your own spiritual roots, join Nazareth College in Walking in the Footsteps of the Prophets, an interfaith journey in the Holy Land. Organized by the Nazareth College department of religious studies, center for interfaith studies and dialogue, and the center for international education, this passage will take you through many of Israel and Palestine’s most sacred sites. The 18 day trip from December 12 – 28, 2009 costs approximately $3,000 (does not include airfare). Costs include accommodations (double occupancy), baggage handling fees, and three meals each day, as well as ground transportation and all educational lectures during the trip. Registration must be received by October 15, 2009. For more information, contact Kathy Hansen at (585) 389-2673.

Muhammad Shafiq, Ph.D, Susan Nowak, Ph.D, S.S.J., and George Eisen, Ph.D, three Nazareth College faculty members, will lead the trip. Together, with experts from several of the Middle East’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, they will lead you through several sites held sacred by the three Abrahamic faiths. Travelers will be able to wander the streets of Jerusalem, spend the Christmas holiday in Bethlehem, gaze across the Sea of Galilee’s storied waters, and visit majestic Istanbul on the Bosphorus Strait and more. At each stop, lectures by tour leaders and guest speakers will reveal the knowledge and historic significance of the region.

Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is a coeducational college with undergraduate and graduate studies in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in health and human services, education, and management.
