She's like Santa Claus and Valentine's cupid rolled into one.

Although Joanie Fitzgerald is in charge on Nazareth's main copy center, switchboard, and office supplies, she's best known for distributing Halloween packages, Valentine's goodies, and other gifts mailed to Naz students.

"When they see flowers, they're thrilled. Sometimes they have no clue why they got them," she said. "I get to participate in the excitement along with them."

The packages range from sensible (computers) to gigantic (a semester's worth of clothes) to just weird.

"Once we got a soccer ball that went through with a label on it," she said. "We were all buzzing about that one."

And then there's the greatest gift of all: the Nazareth ID.

"We get a lot of forgotten wallets and keys from when the students have gone home for the weekends. But you need your Naz ID for access to computer labs and residence halls, so those come back really quickly."
